the Nu Kappa Chapter

December 16, 1977 brought the 473 installment to Alpha Phi Alpha, Fraternity, Inc. The Nu Kappa chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc was founded on Friday, December 16th, 1977 on the campus of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County by seven young men: Brother Jacob Dewitt Howard III, Brother William Bailey, Brother William Birckhead, Brother Larry Darnell Davis, Brother Les Ransom, Brother Guy Jones and Brother Hilary Jones. Over the years, Nu Kappa Brothers have worked in areas such as banking, finance, pharmaceuticals, social services, education, web development, entertainment and radio, police, home construction, law and patents and trademarks.

The Nu Kappa chapter has grown only to a total of fifty-one members and although there are many in pursuit of The Fraternity, not all have measured up to the standards of the Nu Kappa Chapter. The Nu Kappa chapter would rather have a few men who are willing to work for The Fraternity than many who want to join merely for the superficial.
